Artisanal workshops
A journey into Borgo Pignano Volterra Tuscany’s artisanal heritage.

The art of the handmade

At Borgo Pignano Volterra Tuscany, a collection of immersive workshops invites guests to reconnect with ancient knowledge and the rhythms of the land. Each workshop is designed to inspire, offering the chance to create meaningful, personal connections with nature’s raw materials.

Herbal lab
In this workshop, guests learn how to create natural remedies using healing plants and herbs. Guided by Lisabetta’s expertise and secret recipes, you’ll hear about medicinal plants and practice simple extraction methods for everyday wellness at home.

Organic cosmetic lab
In this laboratory, you will have the opportunity to produce a range of beauty products, including oils, ointments, creams, perfumes and aromatic water, using the fresh flowers and plants you collect in our garden. You will create these products using traditional and ancient recipes, as well as modern techniques.

In every petal, a perfume. In every thread, a story. At Borgo Pignano Volterra, artistry is lived.

Color laboratory with self-made watercoats and natural inks
This laboratory will provide you with the opportunity to learn the ancient tradition of extracting colors. Guided by our herbalist Lisabetta, you’ll learn how to transform plants into vibrant colors, fix them to paper, and create watercolors using honey and iron gall ink, with a hands-on practice session.

Organic soap making
The beautiful garden, woods and meadows of Borgo Pignano Volterra Tuscany provide the setting for the collection of herbs and flowers by our qualified herbalist, which then become the ingredients for oils, soaps and perfumes. The laboratory offers an opportunity to learn how to use oldtime recipes to make natural soap using original recipes which can then be taken home.

At Borgo Pignano Volterra, creation is an invitation to slow down, to observe, and to connect with the natural world. These artisanal workshops are not mere pastimes; they are a gentle return to authenticity, where hands craft what machines cannot, and time is measured not by the clock, but by care.
